Symptoms |
1) If the system is at an update level lower than 2.0.5.4 and has a High or Low Res to File JTP licensed, creating a PS3 JTP uses up the High or Low Res to File JTP instance count and you can't create a proofing JTP. 2) If the system is at update level 2.0.5.4 or higher, the PS3 JTP might not start (if one was configured prior to the application of 2.0.5.4). |

Cause |
The Postscript Level 3 (PS3) JTP was to be given away with each Low Res Render JTP (Proofing 256 JTP). The original design concept was that a single JTP could handle both functions. This was not possible so the PS3 JTP is actually its own JTP. However, this change was not reflected in the Prinergy Licensing software and the creation of a PS3 JTP actually uses of one of the High or Low Res To File JTP (Proofing 256 or 512 JTPs) licenses. |

Solution |
Upgrade the site to 2.0.5.4. If the instance count of the PS3 JTP is 0 (verify this by viewing the Licensed Features in the Prinergy Administator on the Primary Server) and the site has one or more PS3 JTPs configured, request a new license key from Production. Indicate that you need X number of PS3 JTPs licensed (where X is equal to the number of High or Low Res to File JTPs that the site currently has licensed). Permanent fix: |
