Error |
During installation testing of 2.0.7.9 in the Prinergy lab, we encountered one installation instance where the Mac file type and creator for the WorkshopUpdateWizard executable was not set up correctly. |
Symptoms |
When the problem occurred, the Mac file type and creator for the executable was set incorrectly as LMAN/TEXT rather than the expected APPL/cau. Because the file type was not APPL, the Macs could not recognize it as an executable, so it could not be run from the Mac. Although this problem occurred with the WorkshopUpdateWizard executable, we believe that this problem could also occur with the cau executable. |

Cause |
We think that this may be caused by a timing issue related to Services for Macintosh (SFM) and the way we install the WorkshopUpdateWizard and Client Auto Update utility (cau) executable during the PPU install. | |

Solution |
The Mac file type and creator can be manually adjusted by running the Services for Mac "macfile forkize" command. To do this, at a command prompt on the primary server, run the following commands: macfile forkize /creator:cau /type:APPL "/targetfile:%ARAXIHOME%\CreoAraxi\support\patches\ClientAutoUpdate\WorkshopUpdateWizard" macfile forkize /creator:cau /type:APPL "/targetfile:%ARAXIHOME%\CreoAraxi\support\patches\ClientAutoUpdate\cau" This should correct the Mac file type and creator for this file, so that the Workshop Update Wizard and cau executables can then be run successfully. If the WorkshopUpdatewizard or cau executable still cannot be seen on a Mac, stopping and starting the Files Services for Mac on the primary server may be required. To do this, right click on the desktop computer icon and select manage. Under Services and Appplications, double click on services. Double click on File Services for Macintosh. Click on Stop to stop the service, then Start to restart it again. Permanent fix: |
