Symptoms |
The Separation Viewer plug-in will not start up, indicating that the plug-in has expired. 1) Customers who upgrade to 2.0.7.18 or greater from a version of Prinergy that is lower than 2.0.7.11 will NOT have the new Separation Viewer plug-in installed by the Client Auto Update (CAU) utility. 2) If customers install a new Workshop after their server has been upgraded to 2.0.7.18 or greater, they must manually install the Separation Viewer plug-in. |

Cause |
Minor update 2.0.7.18 installs, onto the primary server, the R18 plug-ins required for Acrobat 5. This installation provides a convenient location for people to get the R18 plug-ins as part of the future Acrobat 4 to Acrobat 5 upgrade. As a reminder, we also upgraded to a new R17 Separation Viewer plug-in in 2.0.7.11, to replace the previous version of the plug-in that expired December 2001. It is probably pretty safe to assume that if customers care about the Separation Viewer, then by now, they have either: - installed at least 2.0.7.11 to get the non-expiring plug-in - have manually installed the non-expiring plug-in from eCentral - have called the RC to get the non-expiring plug-in installed So, most customers who care about the Sep Viewer have already obtained the new plug-in some way or another. In 2.0.7.18, the Separation Viewer has been removed from the list of things that the CAU updates. This was done because we did not want any sites that may update to Acrobat 5 in the future (and manually install the new R18 plug-ins) to have the R18 version of the Sep View plug-in wiped out by having the CAU install an R17 version on top of it. The TrapEditor plug-in is an exception, because it is compatible with both 2.0.7 and R18. Note that this omission of the Sep Viewer does have some implications: 1) Customers who upgrade to 2.0.7.18 or greater from a version of Prinergy that is lower than 2.0.7.11 will NOT have the new Sep Viewer plug-in installed by CAU. 2) If customers install a new Workshop after their server has been upgraded to 2.0.7.18 or greater, they will have to manually install the Sep Viewer plug-in. 3) Production will have to manually install the R17 Sep Viewer plug-in on new systems until they switch over (hopefully soon) to Acrobat 5 and the new R18 plugins. |

Solution |
Manually install the Separation Viewer plug-in into the Acrobat directory. The new plug-in can be found at: %AraxiHome%\CreoAraxi\support\patches\ClientautoUpdates\UpdateFiles Separations.api -- PC version of the plug-in Separations -- Mac version of the plug-in The files should be copied to the Prinergy plug-ins directory of the Acrobat folder.
