Symptoms |
QuarkXPress, Photoshop and other graphic arts applications fail to show TIFF previews after importing Prinergy DCS output. In Quark, the GetPicture dialog says the DCS master file is an "Unreadable EPSF" file, and shows a gray box instead of the preview. |

Cause |
This problem occurs when the TIFF preview is compressed. Uncompressed previews work okay. | |

Solution |
On Prinergy primary and secondary servers that are running the Proofworks JTP, go to the folder %AraxiHome%\AdobeExtreme\bin. Edit PFWK_Dcs.ini. In the [TiffPreview] section, set Compression=1. The default value is Compression=2, an incorrect value. This setting applies to all DCS output made by the server. Uncompressed previews are of course larger than compressed. But the increase in size of the DCS fileset will be moderate compared to the overall size including all separation image data. Permanent fix: |
