Error

Symptoms

The history log shows an error message that says "Error while ripping Page 1". In the diagnostics log there is a message that says "Error converting <UNC filename of PDF file> page 0 to PS".

-or-

The Marks JTP (PMarkJTP.exe) crashes. The diagnostics log displays a stack trace.

To reproduce the problem:

In the Distiller job settings' Color tab, select "Tag Everything for Color Management" and specify "Adobe CMYK" for the Assumed Profile for CMYK.

Cause

When generating a job ticket from Preps, the marks are written to a PostScript file, which must be converted to PDF using Adobe Acrobat Distiller. The resulting PDF file will be copied to the Job folder when the imposition plan (job ticket file from Preps) is registered. The PDF file is used during an Imposed Proof Output process. The Marks JTP opens it to replace variable marks with the appropriate information (for example, $[color] would be replaced with Black).

Solution

In Acrobat Distiller, edit the job settings that are being used to distill the Preps mark documents. Click on the "Color" tab and ensure that "Leave Color Unchanged" is selected.
