Can't get the Barco to print on the first eight inches of media.

How can I get the Barco Impress 2000 to plot impositions longer than 34 inches (sheetwise only)?

Cause

It is a nuisance to get back-ups on impositions longer than 34 inches on the Barco Impress 2000, as it can't print on the first eight inches of the media when you select double-sided proofing.

Solution

Note: The following procedure was contributed by Paul Bernatchez of N.E. region, CreoScitex.

"There is a workaround to output proofs on the Barco that exceed 34" and still have them back-up with sheetwise (perfector untested). The template must fit in the w=36 x h=42 paper size, media size set in ppd w=39.3701 x h=27.5591. The trick is to send to Barco as single-sided twice. The Hp2000.imposed process plan is set to width 34" with the actual height of the paper 41.90625 plus shifting w,h, measured after sending once at 0,0 front rotated 90 degrees and backs rotated 270 degrees. By sending single-sided twice you don't loose the over 8" vertically and when the first side is finished, the trailing edge is right there ready to be re-fed into the tractor, without having to rotate and flip the actual sheet. We are within a 1/16" on the backup, and this could be better depending on care of loading the sheet. NB no auto centering was used and you need Prinergy 1.1 patch 53 for the Workshop installed to get to any shifting past + -1.4". If you go to Barco 2-sided, forget 8-ups unless you get 54" paper."
