Symptoms |
The Prinergy process plan points towards the NT print device that is configured to use a 3rd party printer driver. Attempting to use that process plan causes a halt in the rendering by the proofing JTP. Configuring the NT print device to use another printer device doesn't help. However, configuring the process plan to spool the data to a folder is successful. This problem was first encountered at a European Prinergy installation site where Prinergy refused to output to a HP2500CM, a cheap laserjet printer with a PS 3 RIP. It was possible to print to the HP from Acrobat. |

Cause |
Unknown. Best guess at this time is that some printer drivers require updated dll files, which causes a conflict between Prinergy and Windows NT. | |

Solution |
1. Backup the contents of ..winnt\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 to a hard drive on another computer. 2. Delete all NT Print devices. 3. Delete all printers ports. 4. Delete the contents of ..winnt\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86 to a hard drive on another computer. 5. Re-install Service Pack 4. 6. Install the "safe" printer drivers i.e. the drivers off the Windows NT CD-ROM. 7. Re-create the NT print devices. Permanent fix: |
