Symptoms |
When trapping is enabled, optimizing is multiple times slower (up to 20 times, depending on original). When deselecting trapping, or alternate images during refining, the files are processed at a normal speed. |
Cause |
During trapping, all images that are trapped to an object (default setting is on) will be duplicated. So any image that has one or more traps to an object will have one or multiple copies of the same image (one per trap). The reason for this is the ability to remove trappings, even when you have the same image placed multiple times. Prinergy generates alternate images for all these extra images, causing the slowdown for files were you get a lot of these combinations. |

Solution |
Uncheck alternate images during refining. or Uncheck trapping between images and objects in the trapping dialog box. The upcoming Creo trapper engine works differently and does not have this slowdown. Permanent fix: |
