Symptoms |
The spot color CMYK recipe is not replaced by Refiner, even when "Use Alternate Color Definition from Color Editor, if Available" is enabled in the ColorConvert section. The CMYK recipe from the original PDF file is retained. The spot color may not look as expected when converted to process. |

Cause |
It is possible to configure Prinergy Refiner, specifically the Color Converter, to replace the CMYK recipe for a spot color present in a PDF page that is being refined. To do this, the user can create a spot color entry in the Prinergy database using the Color Editor tool in Workshop, then enable the "Use Alternate Color Definition from Color Editor, if Available" option in the ColorConvert section of the Refiner. When the PDF file is refined, the CMYK recipe for the spot color will be replaced with the user-defined recipe entered in the Color Editor. Any leading or trailing spaces or upper versus lower case characters are significant in the spot color name. The spot color name entered in the Prinergy Color Editor must be an EXACT match to the name appearing in the PDF file. If the spot color name in the PDF file does not match the name entered in the Color Editor, then the CMYK recipe entered in the Color Editor will not be used during Refine to replace the recipe in the PDF file. |

Solution |
Be careful when entering spot color names in the Color Editor. Pay close attention to upper versus lower case and leading and trailing spaces. Permanent fix: |
