Symptoms |
Prinergy 1.1 Trap JTP crashes, with this message in the Diagnostic logs: E 06Jul00 19:50:56.921 [833.738] YCS172-82 ARAXI PTrapJTP.main APPL_Application.cpp(207): A structured exception was caught. Please wait for the stack trace report to be formatted... E 06Jul00 19:50:56.921 [833.738] YCS172-82 ARAXI PTrapJTP.main ?: ?: System exception C0000005 (ACCESS_VIOLATION) at address 00536cb7 E 06Jul00 19:51:00.062 [833.738] YCS172-82 ARAXI PTrapJTP.main ?: ?: 00536CB7 HDAGTrap(BaseAddr=530000) PDFTrap::readTrapZone+375 E 06Jul00 19:51:00.062 [833.738] YCS172-82 ARAXI PTrapJTP.main ?: ?: 00536233 HDAGTrap(BaseAddr=530000) PDFTrap::readTrapParasFromJT+3651 Notice the text in the last line: "PDFTrap::readTrapParasFromJT". This means there was a failure while attempting to read the trapping parameters embedded in the file by InProduction. |

Cause |
There is a bug in the interpretation of the InProduction trapping parameters in the Trap JTP. Using one of the Acrobat plug-ins from InProduction, users can specify trapping parameters for RIPs that support Adobe InRIP Trapping. Note that only trapping *parameters* are written to the PDF, not actual traps. If the user has specified trapping parameters in the PDF, and wants Prinergy to use those settings, just enable "Use Trap Settings from Input File if Present". Note that some of the parameters will be ignored (like Trap Images Internally), and some Prinergy Trapper features cannot be set with InProduction (like Small Text Size Limit). |
Solution |
Either [a] remove all InProduction trapping parameters from the PDF before trapping in Prinergy; or [b] deselect "Use Trap Settings from Input File if Present" in the Trapping section of the Refine process plan. Permanent fix: Prinergy 1.1; Prinergy 2.0 |
