Symptoms |
During a Prinergy installation, a warning dialog box appears, stating that the Path variable will exceed 255 characters. |
Cause |
The installer doesn't know that the Path variable limit is higher than 255 characters in Windows 2000. Versions of Windows before Windows 2000 have a limit of only 255 characters in the Path system variable. Prinergy 2.0 installs often added enough paths to the Path variable that the limit was exceeded, so a warning dialog was added in the installer to display if this was about to happen. This gave the user a chance to delete unnecessary paths, or to somehow shorten the Prinergy paths. Users occassionally deleted important paths by mistake. In Windows 2000 this limit was increased by Microsoft to 1024 characters, but the installer still thinks it is only 255. |

Solution |
On Windows 2000 systems, ignore the warning. If you decide to shorten the Path variable, be very, very careful. Permanent fix: |
