Symptoms |
When the RIP at the secondary server is down, the process plan editor doesn't show any screen info settings, so it's not possible to edit process plans for a secondary unless that secondary is up. |
Cause |
PPED gets its information from each JTP which is up at the time a process plan is opened. If the JTP is not up, then there is no info, so all that gets displayed by PPED is whatever is already in the process plan that is opened, and no other choices are allowed to the user. Furthermore, PPED will pop up a warning about this fact. | |

Solution |
If the secondary server is down, and you want to be able to set up a process plan for proofing, you can do so as long as you have a proofing JTP running on the primary (e.g. ProofOnPrimary). To do so: Change the JTP in the JTP drop-down list in the Render tab to the proofing JTP on the primary (ProofOnPrimary) rather than the JTP pool name (Proof). This will let you access all of the screening info choices for proofing. When you're done setting up the process plan, change the JTP back to the proofing pool, and save it. Permanent fix: |
