Symptoms |
The term RLE (run length encoding) is used to mean different things in different contexts: In Prinergy and PostScript: RLE = Packbits In the TIFF specification: RLE is not defined (but could be interpreted as TIFF compression type 2, which is a form of CCITT G3 compression) In Copydot Toolkit / Scitex LW/LHS / TIFF/IT: RLE = Scitex LW Handshake run length encoding So if someone was to take Prinergy RLE-compressed output into the Toolkit, the Toolkit will automatically detect the compression and say, correctly, that it is Packbits compression. |
