Symptoms |
Prinergy Installer fails on older DEC/Intel boxes are being repurposed as Prinergy Render Stations or Secondary Servers. |
Cause |
Many of these older DEC/Intel boxes are running Windows NT Service Pack 5, which we do not support. But we have these boxes, the customer intends to use them, and you can't install Prinergy on them. | |

Solution |
On these machines, the install prompt wants SP4, and you have only three options: 1) Uninstall SP5, which can't be done if the backup option hasn't been selected. 2) Reinstall NT4.0 with the approved service packs. This takes a while and longer if we're using a DEC unit. 3) Use the highly unapproved, and unsupported hack, which allows an install on SP5, and takes about a minute to set up. Permanent fix: |
