Symptoms |
Shortly after the Workstation Software is started, the system Blue Screens when the software tries to access the SCSI port. Error message: The Blue Screen (BSOD) text on the workstation reads something like the following: Stop: 0x00000000 (0x00000007, 0x00000004, 0x00000000, 0x80013785) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL*** Address 80012735 has base at 80012000 - SCSIPORT.SYS Note: The thing to look for in this error text is the SCSIPORT.SYS string in the message. If it doesn’t contain that string, then it is probably a different problem. |

Cause |
This applies to any Prinergy renderer station that uses Creo Workstation Software to generate high-resolution output. Version(s) Prinergy 1.0, 1.1. Component Workstation Software, e.g., PCS 1.7, Print Console 1.0, etc. The most likely cause is that two or more RIPs are being started by the Workstation Software when the software is launched. To verify this: 1) Open the “begin-cwr.inf file that is used when the Workstation Software is started, e.g., for PCS 1.7, this should be in the platesetter\bin directory. 2) Examine the file and see if it is launching more than one RIP, e.g., TiffDownloader and PPlateWorksRIP. 3) If you are using PCS 1.7, and if it is set up to be used with Prinergy, then only the PPlateWorksRIP is required. Comment out the other RIP. If you need to launch both RIPs, then you must do the following: Note: this is not necessary if you are using Print Console, since the Output Device Conf Wizard will already have taken care of this. a) Find the line that launches the PlateWorksRIP, e.g., PPlateWorksRIP.exe /unique /min /exit 0 b) Replace it with the line: StartPlateWorksRIP.bat c) Try again. |

Solution |
Note: the StartPlateWorksRIP.bat file is copied to the Workstation Software’s \bin directory when the user runs the Output Device Config Wizard. If it is not, then the user either hasn’t run the Wizard (which means that they haven’t configured the system to run with Prinergy yet), or they deleted the file from the directory. If this is the case, then they can create a new file themselves very easily. This bat file contains two lines as shown below: wait 60 PPlateWorksRIP.exe /unique /min /exit 0 The wait 60 is the number of seconds to wait before launching the PlateWorksRIP. Permanent fix: |
