Symptoms |
Error messages such as "found missing or emulated font Futura" appear during refining, and the PDF pages never appear in the InBox. The refine process fails. The messages will contain different font names (the example above uses Futura as the font name), but the symptoms are similar. |

Cause |
Acrobat 3 will silently ignore missing fonts if these fonts can be emulated using its built-in MultipleMaster technology. It does not embed the font, nor does it replace it with Courier. There is no known published list of fonts subject to such treatment, but most Adobe fonts might possibly be treated in this manner. Acrobat 4 can be set to not allow such font emulation treatment (under the Job Options, Fonts tab, When Embedding Fails popup menu should be set to "Cancel Job"). | |

Solution |
For the problematic job, use a process plan that allows missing fonts. For more information, refer to the Process Plan Editor section of Prinergy Workshop online help. In the future, use Acrobat 4 to produce PDFs, and set the Job Options as suggested above to avoid generating PDF without embedded fonts. Note: This will not be fixed i.e. Prinergy will never fully support PDF from Acrobat 3. Permanent fix: |
