Symptoms |
Files created using Catalyst JumpGate 1.5 software will perform poorly in Prinergy. Catalyst JumpGate is a third-party application that takes RIPed and screened (i.e. copydot) images as input and produces PDF as output. The PDF output has specific problems when processed through Prinergy. Symptoms include: - Pages do not show correct color in Acrobat (a problem with Acrobat rather than the file format). - Some files contain erroneous PDF reference tables that can cause the Color Converter, Optimizer, or Register JTP to fail. - Pages are very slow to render in Adobe Acrobat. - Proofs and plates are very slow to render/output. - Loose page or imposed output may fail to RIP because of "limitcheck" errors. |

Cause |
JumpGate represents copydot information using overprinting image masks. For very small images, or if there are very few such images in an imposition, this technique is acceptable. However, for full pages, this technique is very inefficient. | |

Solution |
The solution is to use the Copydot Toolkit to reformat the files as G4-compressed and tiled 2048 x 2048. Permanent fix: |
