Symptoms |
When submitting PostScript from Quark,"Thicken Thin Lines" does not work as expected to on non-rectangular boxes. |
Cause |
Prinergy Normalizer has a "Thicken Thin Lines" that eliminates lines below a certain width. For non-rectangular boxes (oval, custom, etc.), Quark draws the stroke at double the width, then applies a second stroke directly over top of it that masks out the other half of the stroke. This halves the stroke width on final output, but the Normalizer can't tell that the stroke is actually half of what it is in the PostScript. (For example, if you have a 1pt stroke line on a non-rectagular box in the Quark doc, it will create PostScript with the stroke at 2pts wide, then mask the other half of the stroke. If the minimum width is 1.5pts, the stroke will not be effected, because according to the PostScript, it's above the threshold.) For rectangular boxes, Quark draws the box as expected (box stroke is final stroke width). |

Solution |
Check non-rectangular boxes with strokes applied to them in the original Quark document. If their width is below the threshold, change them before creating PostScript. Permanent fix: |
