Symptoms |
Partial-page CEPS (CT/LW, TIFF/IT) data is trapped when it shouldn't be. |
Cause |
For example, If you have a Quark page (editorial content) and place a CEPS advertisement on it (from CEPSLink, CEPS JTP, etc.), Prinergy cannot determine which parts are already trapped (CEPS) and which parts still require trapping (editorial). If the page is run through the trapper, the editorial content is correctly trapped, but the pre-trapped CEPS data is re-trapped with bad results. |

Solution |
There are a variety of methods one could use to avoid this situation: 1) Trap the page in the Trapper Plugin in Acrobat. Use the marquee (click-drag-select) to select the CEPS data, and delete traps. 2) Keep the editorial and CEPS content separate until after the editorial has been trapped; for example, trap editorial content, then use Pagelet to place the CEPS PDF into the appropriate position on the editorial. Note that this might be slow, depending on CEPS file characteristics. 3) In the Prinergy 2.1 timeframe, the OPI Bypass feature will be implemented. At that time, you could use thin PS from Quark, and use OPI Bypass on the CEPS data. The OPI Bypass will prevent the CEPS data from being trapped. Permanent fix: |
