"How do I edit the geometry of CEPS files?"

Product

  Prinergy Connect 2.0 ; Prinergy Connect 2.1

Platform

Operating system

Error

Symptoms

The user must manually enter geometry information for CEPS files.

Cause

CEPS files (CT/LW, TIFF/IT) do not have trim information.

Solution

"How do I edit the geometry of CEPS files?"

.

There are several methods: using the Geometry plugin, or using "Set Page Geometry"

.

Using the Geometry plugin in Acrobat:

- You can use the Geometry plugin in Acrobat to edit the geometry of files that have processed by the CEPS JTP. However, because of the complex nature of some CEPS files, the drawing of the page in Acrobat may be too slow to make this practical.

---------------------

Using PressTouch and the "Set Page Geometry"

.

Set up (one-time):

- Obtain PressTouch (the non-trapping portion of the application is a free download from eCentral)

- In PressTouch, select Edit/Preferences/Units and change the Info and Ruler units to the units of measurement you prefer to work in (example, Inches)

- Ensure that the Info palette is visible (Window/Show Info)

.

For each set of pages with unique geometry:

- Open a CT/LW or TIFF/IT page with PressTouch

- Measure the page offset:

- Zoom in to the lower left corner of the page

- Use the square marquee tool to draw a marquee between the lower left corner of the page and the two trim marks (horizontal and vertical). You can use the "handles" on the selection to adjust it.

- note the Height and Width values in the Info box

- In Prinergy Workshop, select the Refined PDF page (or multiple pages, if there are other pages which share the geometry of the page you measured)

- Select Edit/Set Page Geometry.

- Enter the Trim Size that you know the page should be.

- Enter the X (Width) and Y (Height) offsets you noted in PressTouch, using NEGATIVE values. (example, if you noted W=3.5" and H=2.125" in PressTouch, enter X= -3.5" and H= -2.125" in the Prinergy Page Geometry).
