Symptoms

File fails to refine when it's routed to a server without Acrobat 5 installed on it.

Cause

There is a component of acrobat 5 that's required when handling identity-H fonts.

Solution

Ensure Acrobat 5 (Acrobat reader 5 is also acceptable) is installed on all servers where normalizing is performed.

Alternatively, save PDF as Postscript and re-refine the file.
