Symptoms |
Files from Adobe Illustrator or Adobe InDesign (for example, with drop shadows) result in white boxes on page content |
Cause |
Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign use PDF 1.4-style transparency, which, when flattened, uses overprinting images and objects to represent things like drop shadows. Changing the overprint intent of these sorts of objects can damage the intended appearance of the page, and you may end up with white objects where the drop shadows are intended to be. This is regardless of which Prinergy version you are using, or where the file was flattened (in Prinergy, or in the original application). |

Solution |
Turn off "set colors to knockout" in your Refine process plan. . If you need to convert spots to process, you can also get these white boxes. In this case, turn on the "overprint handling" option in the ColorMatch section of your Process Template. This makes Prinergy pay attention to the overprints when it performs its color conversion, and should result in the correct CMYK page. Permanent fix: |
