Symptoms |
DeviceN PostScript 3 from QuarkXPress 6 fails in Prinergy Normalizer (or a DistillerAssistant-enabled Distiller) and reports the following PostScript error: (%%[ Error: invalidrestore; OffendingCommand: restore ]%% ) |
Cause |
Known problem. Under investigation by Product Development. Probably caused by a CreoUtilLib conflict. Note: This did not happen with the beta versions of QuarkXPress 6. | |

Solution |
There are four possible workarounds: 1. Disable the Distiller Assistant and pre-Distill the QuarkXPress PostScript, then bring the resulting PDF into Prinergy. 2. Output as PDF from QuarkXPress using DeviceN. 3. If the document does not include spot-colorized TIFFs or multi-inks, using the CMYK colorspace might yield acceptable results. 4. Outputting separated PostScript (using CMYK colorspace) would result in pages that include spot-colorized TIFFs and multi-inks that should normalize properly. However, the page will be separated, so spot mapping, trapping etc. would not be possible. . This is fixed in 2.1.0.21 and 2.2.1.3 Permanent fix: |
