Artifacts appear on low-resolution contone TIFFs when using antialiasing (Prinergy 3.1.0.8 and earlier)

Product

  Kodak® Prinergy® 3.1.0.8 or earlier

Symptoms

Artifacts unexpectedly appear on low-resolution (100 dpi) contone TIFFs when using antialiasing.

Cause

The problem is with a component that is used when downsampling.

Solution

The workaround is to edit the registry:

  1. From the Start menu, select Run.
  2. Type regedit and click OK.
  3. In the Registry Editor, locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Creo\Araxi\Settings\Default\PWKS\BicubicAntiAliasing.
  4. Right-click the BicubicAntiAliasing key and select Modify.

Note: If the BicubicAntiAliasing key doesn't exist, create it:

    1. Locate Edit > New > DWORD Value.
    2. Type BicubicAntiAliasing.

  5. In the Value data box, type 0 (zero). Click OK.
  6. Close the Registry Editor.
  7. Restart all proofing JTPs.

This problem is fixed automatically in Prinergy 4.0.
