Symptoms |
What's broken: --------------------- What is broken in 1.1 is the ability to apply different curves based on the screening properties for FM screens. It is still possible to apply a single curve set to all screens on a plate, but this is of limited utility in a mixed-screen situation. In 2.0, both the ability to apply different curves based on the screening properties for FM screens and the ability to specify FM screens in Document Screening mode are broken. Note that there is no problem with applying different curves to different AM screens, just FM ones. Also, there is no problem with using Staccato FM screens in Override Screening mode. |

Cause |
How it's supposed to work: -------------------------------------- In order to mix different FM screens or AM and FM screens on the same page in Prinergy 1.1, Document Screening mode must be used. (For example, to specify Staccato20 screening, use 20 lpi.) Because of the nature of AM and FM screens, it is desirable to apply different dot gain curves to each type of screening in order to bring them both to the same target. This is done by selecting %% AUTO %% calibration and enabling two or more calibration curves in the Harmony database with the same Harmony medium but different screening properties. At render time, the screening engine selects the correct curve based on the screening properties of a particular object. |

Solution |
There is no workaround at this time. (00/11/21) For Prinergy 1.1: apply patch 143. (01/03/14) Patch is pending for 2.0. Permanent fix: Prinergy 1.1 |
