Symptoms |
Print Console remains in detecting-edge state indefinitely. |
Cause |
If you access the device using Hyperterminal, you'll see that the edge-detection is complete and the device is waiting for Prinergy to download the files. Prinergy, however, goes into a loop trying to auto-negotiate (network card or hub/switch tries to determine the speed of the connection to the client and the duplexing). This is likely caused by a network problem, though it has not been solved conclusively. |

Solution |
Could be one of a number of problems. Try these in the following order: 1. Try to cancel the job and re-submit it. 2. If the network cards on the Primary and/or renderstation are set to auto-detect speed and/or duplex, change to 100baseT/full duplex. 3. If the hub or switch is set to auto-detect speed and/or duplex, change to 100baseT/full duplex. 4. Check bindings. Some JTPs won't start when the bindings are out of whack (see the Prinergy Tech Library site for documents that define correct binding settings). 5. If all these are fine, check the cable. 6. If the problem remains, it could be caused by bad ports on the switch. Try moving to another port. Permanent fix: |
