VPS 1.2.8 can't open Evo or Prinergy created VPS files; reports error: FileName.ext.1a.c.VPS: unknown field with tag 334 (0x14e) ignored.

Product

Prinergy (All), Virtual Proofing System 1.2.8

Platform

Macintosh

Operating system

OS 9

Error

"FileName.ext.1a.c.VPS: unknown field with tag 334 (0x14e) ignored."

Symptoms

When you create VPS files with the "Advanced Tiff Tag" in Prinergy or Prinergy Evo, Creo VPS Version 1.2.8 fails to open the VPS files and reports the error: "FileName.ext.1a.c.VPS: unknown field with tag 334 (0x14e) ignored." You have to force quit the VPS application to recover.

Cause

"Advanced Tiff Tag" is enabled in the "Device" section in Prinergy or Prinergy Evo OutputPDF-VPS and OutputImposition-VPS PT's.

Solution

Re-create new VPS files with "Advanced TIFF Tag" unchecked.

Note: The "Advanced TIFF Tag" should be enabled to create VPS files for VPS Version 2.01 (and higher) so that spot color recipes will be included in the VPS files and VPS will display the spot colors with the correct color recipes.
