Operating system

All operating systems

Error

Unable to send e-mail. Error: could not access 'CDO.Message' object.

Symptoms

Rules using the Send Email action do not actually send e-mail, and the error shows up in the Araxi logs.

Cause

Check for either of these causes:

  • Cause 1: The Prinergy RBA server is not configured with the correct name or IP address of the mail server.
  • Cause 2: The anti-virus software on the mail server is blocking e‑mail sent by the Prinergy RBA server.

Solution

Solution 1: To add or edit the mail server’s IP address or name:

In Prinergy 4.0 or later

  1. On the Prinergy RBA server, open Prinergy Administrator.
  2. From the Tools menu, select Configure RBA.
  3. In the Email Server box, type the correct IP address or name of the e-mail server.
  4. In the Email Server Port list, select the correct port number.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Close Prinergy Administrator.

In Prinergy 3.x

  1. On the Prinergy RBA server, locate Prinergy\Automation\bin.
  2. Open the AutomationApp.exe.config file in a text editor.
  3. Locate the <configuration> section. In the <appSettings> subsection, add the line:
    <add key="MailServer" value="10.1.200.1"/>

  4. Note: Replace 10.1.200.1 with the actual IP address or name of the mail server.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Open Windows Task Manager.
  7. On the Processes tab, select AutomationApp.exe and click End Process.

  8. The process automatically restarts in about 30 seconds. The RBA e-mail messages should work now.

Solution 2: To configure the anti-virus software on the email server to allow e-mail from the Prinergy RBA server, refer to the anti-virus software documentation.
