Symptoms |
A Photoshop EPS file has a background of 40c, 30m, 0y, 100k, (rich black) and is placed into either Freehand or Illustrator over an element that is filled with the same color (40c, 30m, 0y, 100k) . An EPS is exported or saved and then placed into Quark. From Quark, PostScript is written and sent to Prinergy. When normalized and/or rendered, the rich black background of the Photoshop file changes values. |

Cause |
This problem is caused by the fact that the Photoshop image is being saved in the CIE colorspace (together with an embedded ICC profile). When Prinergy converts the CIE colorspace to CMYK, it uses the embedded ICC profile. Unfortunately, the embedded ICC profile does not give identical results to what is specified in PhotoShop. | |

Solution |
The solution is to disable the "PostScript Color Management" option when you are saving the EPS from Photoshop. If you disable this option, Photoshop will save the image as in the CMYK colorspace. Note that this option is only available in Photoshop 5.0 or greater. Permanent fix: |
