Symptoms |
Cannot see traps specified with Adobe InProduction in the Prinergy TrapEditor/TrapViewer. |

||
Cause |
Adobe InProduction is a collection of Acrobat Plugins designed for the needs of the printing industry. The trapping component of InProduction is not a trapper. It is used to EMBED TRAPPING PARAMETERS for Adobe's IN-RIP TRAPPING. You can set up one or more trapping zones, each with different trapping settings. You CANNOT use it to actually trap a PDF, nor can you view any traps. The traps do not exist until the PDF is RIPed on an Adobe RIP with InRIP trapping enabled. The Prinergy Trap JTP and TrapEditor *do* trap PDFs. You *can* view traps, but only Prinergy Trapper's traps. |

Solution |
The Prinergy Trap JTP can be set to use the trap setting embedded in the PDF by InProduction. If you select "Use Trap Settings from Input File if Present" in the Trap section of the Refine process plan, the Trap JTP will read the InProduction trap settings, but only for the Page Zone (the entire page). Any additional zones that may be defined are ignored. Be aware that there are some parameters we don't do, such as trap image interiors, and there are some Prinergy trapping parameters that are not set by InProduction, such as Dieline ink types, small text size limit, etc. Note: The TrapEditor ignores InProduction trap settings.
