Symptoms |
I have a customer who is looking for an "official word" on Quark clipping paths. He's recieving files with these paths in them and knows they can be problematic. I told him to use the original Photoshop paths if possible. He wants to know officially how CreoScitex deals with Quark clipping paths and if we think they are any good or not. |

Solution |
It depends. Clipping paths generated by Quark are generally okay as long as picture boxes do not use a background fill of "None". Prinergy will preserve Quark's clip for "None" backgrounds but on high resolution output the edges of this path will look "jagged" and is generally considered unacceptable. This is true of all high resolution output devices, not just those connected to Prinergy or other CreoScitex workflows. The preferred method of cutting a mask for high resolution output is to use PhotoShop. They look great at low resolution, on screen, or high resolution. Quark can read and use those clipping paths for text runarounds too so there is no reason not to use them. Permanent fix: |
