Error |

Symptoms |
When using Preps, marks that are placed close to the edge of plates are rotating by 90 degrees in Prinergy (when imposed output, proof or plate, is performed), but when previewed in Preps the marks are in correct orientation. |
Cause |
Preps appears to read the PPD when making the JT and if the marks are too close to the edge of the plate, Preps rotates the marks. Preps thinks the marks are too close to the edge since the PPD file accounts for the plate clamping region that the Trendsetter/Platesetter requires. | |

Solution |
The PPD that Preps is using will have to be edited using a text editor like Notepad. Close Preps and then open the PPD (will be in Preps\printers\PPD) and search for the offending plate name. When you find the plate name there will be two numbers after it. These numbers are in points (72 points to the inch). Find the number that relates to the dimension around the drum (should be the second number). Add 18 points (1/4 inch) to that number using find and replace all. Try the new PPD. If the marks still rotate edit the PPD and add an additional 18 points. Continue until the marks do not rotate. Make sure the Creo site owner and the customer are aware of this workaround. The workaround will need to be applied everytime that a new PPD is created, for example, if the customer moves to a new plate size. Permanent fix: |
