Cause |
In Prinergy 1.1, if incoming PostScript files contain thin "hairlines" they are automatically thickened. The rationale for this is that very thin lines will not be printable on press – they will disappear because they are too small for ink to be transferred to paper. Typically this is a problem with files such as the GATF "one pixel grid" files. Most printers will want automatic line fattening, so this workaround is NOT something that we should be doing for every printer. |

Solution |
To disable the line fattening: (1) Rename the file "%ARAXIHOME%\AdobeExtreme\bin\CntrlMinLineWidth.ps" to be "%ARAXIHOME%\AdobeExtreme\bin\CntrlMinLineWidth.original". The Prinergy normalizer executes all files in the directory with the "*.ps" extension upon startup. (2) Shut down and restart the Normalizer JTP(s). ** You must perform steps #1 and #2 on ALL Prinergy servers that have Normalizers running on them. ** (3) Refine the file again (you MUST re-refine). To restore the line fattening: (1) Rename the file "%ARAXIHOME%\AdobeExtreme\bin\CntrlMinLineWidth.original" to be "%ARAXIHOME%\AdobeExtreme\bin\CntrlMinLineWidth.ps". (2) Shut down and restart the Normalizer JTP(s). ** You must perform steps #1 and #2 on ALL Prinergy servers that have Normalizers running on them. ** * Note that this "line-fattening" is a feature that is controlled via the process plan in Prinergy 2.0. * Note that this "line-fattening" has no effect on incoming PDF (it only affects incoming PostScript). * Note that this problem is typically reported with the GATF "one pixel grid" files. Most printers will want automatic line fattening, so this workaround is NOT something that we should be doing for every printer. Permanent fix: Prinergy 2.0 |
