A Prinergy patch is a group of files that have been ZIPed together. Each patch file consists of the patch readme, a script that indicates to the Prinergy Patch Utility (PPU) how to install the patch files, and all the Prinergy components that the patch is to distribute. Since the Prinergy patch file is a ZIPed file, you can use any of the ZIP utilities to attempt to decompress it (the thinking is that if the file can be decompressed, the patch integrity is good). All Prinergy systems ship with a copy of the command line utility "unzip.exe". Assuming you have a patch called "Prinergy-1.1p104-x86.ppu", to validate the patch integrity, execute the following steps: (1) Open a WinNT Command Prompt and navigate to the location of the patch file ("Prinergy-1.1p104-x86.ppu") (2) Execute the following command in the Command Prompt "unzip -v Prinergy-1.1p104-x86.ppu" (3) If you get a list of the files in the patch (readme, ppu script + Prinergy components), the patch is valid. If you get an error that the file could not be read or decompressed, the patch file is most likely corrupt. The main reason for a corrupt patch file is not downloading the patch as a BINARY file (it was downloaded as a text file). Permanent fix: |
