Symptoms |
When converting spot colors to process color on proofing output (imposed or loose page), the colors are quite a bit darker or even a different hue as compared with converting to process during refine using Color Matcher. |
Cause |
Because Color Combiner runs after the RIP, dot gain calibration curves don't get applied to the CMYK data that results from converting the spot to process. This results in too much ink on the paper and the results look too dark and/or color-shifted. | |
Solution |
Turn off Color Combiner in the Render tab of the proofing output process plan. Note: This forces the RIP to do the color conversion, however the RIP can only handle composite data and spots defined in /Separation colorspace. Use of setoverprint operator may not work, nor will DeviceN objects or indexed DeviceN objects. Permanent fix: |
