Symptoms |
You create a spot gradient blend in QuarkXPress 6 and write out PostScript L1,2,3 compatible. When you refine or distill the resulting PostScript, spot gradients are converted to process but flat tints remain spot (as seen in Adobe Acrobat and VPS/Plate). If you repeat the above process in QuarkXPress5 using the same settings, the spot gradients retain their spot color attributes. |

Cause |
Typically, QuarkXPress tries to convert everything to CMYK when creating output. To override this behaviour, save your output as DeviceN. | |
Solution |
Save QuarkXPress 6 output as DeviceN to retain spot color gradients and prevent them being converted to process. The settings are in Print Dialog box > Output options. Permanent fix: |
