Symptoms |
Proofs come out not colormatched. |

Cause |
The regular vector colormatcher cannot handle separated data. | |

Solution |
If you are dealing with separated PS or PDF data (with or without spots) and you wish to proof it in a color-accurate manner, do the following: - during refine, turn on Spot Color Handling and either extract the recipes from the file (if you know they are correct) or extract them from the color database (preferred). This ensures that there are spot recipes which can be colormatched during proof output - for proofing output, choose a file format that supports contone data,eg. TIFF. Turn on ColorConvert and check on Match Colors in Page Content and for Overprint Handling, choose Raster. In the Render tab, choose Shades=256, and convert spots to process using Color Combiner. Make sure spot recipes are coming from the file, not the color database. With the above settings, Raster CM will colormatch the recipes in the file and Color Combiner will convert the spots to process using the colormatched recipes and combine them into one file suitable for the proofing device.
