Cause |
It seems that even if the state of the tape is idle, allocated, it is not allocated properly somehow, so Prinergy can't identify it as a Prinergy tape. | |

Solution |
Upgrade to 2.0.5 or up. If still using 2.0.4, use the following procedure: 1) Stop and restart RSM to identify this medium again. If this still does not work, perform the following steps: 2) Deallocate and delete the tape, and re-introduce it into the library. WARNING: Before you do this, make sure the application pool IS NOT set to Return media to Free Media Pool. Highlight the application pool containing the tape that you want to deallocate, right click to select Properties, and uncheck Return media to Free Media pool. IF YOU FORGET TO UNCHECK THIS, ONCE YOU CLICK DEALLOCATE, THE MEDIA WILL AUTOMATICALLY RETURN TO THE FREE POOL i.e. IT WILL OVERWRITE THE PRINERGY TAPE. 3. Highlight the tape, right click to select All Tasks|Deallocate. 4. Take the tape offline. 5. Highlight the tape, right click to select Delete. 6. Reintroduce the tape back to the system; the tape will be recognized in the import pool. 7. Drag the tape back to the application pool. 8. Stop and restart Archiver JTP to update the state of the tape to idle, allocated. Permanent fix: Prinergy 2.0 |
