Error

Symptoms

After running PChangeJobShare to change the server and share name of the system, we could not open any old jobs in Workshop, but newly created job worked fine.

Cause

  The server name is changed to lower case with a different name, when running PChangeJobShare, the server name and shared name were changed in the database, but the server name changed to lower case instead. So, in the dbcs_jacket table, the server name of all the old jobs still showed as lowercase server name and the newly created job showed as uppercase.

Solution

In order to change the value of the server name to upper case in the database, we need to change the share name to something else, as PChangeJobShare did not allow you to change the server name as the target and source names are the same.

Below is a tech note written by Brian at the Response Center FYI.

He changed the share on the j-drive and tried running pchangejobshare. The server in the database was small case. When he ran pchangejobshare he typed the server in All CAPS for both entries. After the command was run he checked the db and the server was in CAPS.

He has listed the steps he ran below on FRED. Tried running it another time and he was able to get the server back to small case.

Need to change the sharename each time you run this.

Steps taken to prove this:

Take FRED as an example.

J-Drive is shared as AraxiVolume_FRED_J

Run the query 'select distinct jckdrootfolderservername, jckdrootfoldersharename from dbcs_jacket;'

jckdrootfolderservername = fred

jckdrootfoldersharename = AraxiVolume_FRED_J

Delete the old share and create a new share for J-Drive

J-Drive is shared as AraxiVolume_brian_J

Run the query 'select distinct jckdrootfolderservername, jckdrootfoldersharename from dbcs_jacket;'

jckdrootfolderservername = fred

jckdrootfoldersharename = AraxiVolume_FRED_J

pchangejobshare fred AraxiVolume_brian_J -h fred -s AraxiVolume_FRED_J

Run the query 'select distinct jckdrootfolderservername, jckdrootfoldersharename from dbcs_jacket;'

jckdrootfolderservername = fred

jckdrootfoldersharename = AraxiVolume_brian_J

Delete the share and create a new share on the J-Drive

J-Drive is shared as AraxiVolume_FRED_J

Run the query 'select distinct jckdrootfolderservername, jckdrootfoldersharename from dbcs_jacket;'

jckdrootfolderservername = fred

jckdrootfoldersharename = AraxiVolume_brian_J

pchangejobshare FRED AraxiVolume_FRED_J -h FRED -s AraxiVolume_brian_J

Run the query 'select distinct jckdrootfolderservername, jckdrootfoldersharename from dbcs_jacket;'

jckdrootfolderservername = FRED

jckdrootfoldersharename = AraxiVolume_FRED_J
