Symptoms |
There are cases wherein a problem on the Qualstar medium changer causes the tape library to be inoperable. If a tape drive in the library is known to be working, this workaround can be used to bypass the medium changer and use the known good tape drive/s as standalone drives. |

Solution |
1. Power down the server (host of the tape library) 2. Power down the Qualstar library. 3. Remove the panel that covers the Executive Board. 4. Disconnect the ribbon cable connector from the Executive Board. 5. Replace the cover. 6. Power up the Qualstar library. Open the library door. 7. Power up the server. 8. The drive/s should appear in RSM as standalone drives. 9. Keep the library door open. 10. Inject and eject tapes using RSM wizards. You should be able to use the drive/s as standalone.
