Symptoms |
A Prinergy server with EPM+ (Primary and failover server) may drop all connections, and no new connections can be established. Multiple instances of Event ID 2000 may be recorded in the System Event log. There may also be a decrease in server performance. |

Cause |
There is an interoperability issue between Microsoft Update MS05-027 (KB896422) and older versions of Veritas Storage Replicator (software installed wit EPM+). This is discussed in Microsoft KB288301 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/288301 | |

Solution |
Install Hotfix 9 for VSR v2.11 SP3. Follow the following procedure: The hotfix install should be done at a time when the servers can be rebooted. Install the hotfix on the Primary server first. After the primary has rebooted, install the hotfix on the Failover server. The hotfix can be downloaded from the Veritas website http://seer.support.veritas.com/docs/266354.htm. 1. Launch VSR Console. 2. Select the Configure Tab and click on the Servers Icon. 3. Take note of the installed version in the servers. This is listed in the Product Info column. The version previously used in EPM+ is Version 2.11 Build 2.15.47a. Hotfix 9 will install Version 2.11 Build 2.15.50a. 4. Click on the Jobs Icon. 5. If the Prinergy-Database job is running, stop the replication job. This can be done by right-clicking on the job and selecting Stop Now from the drop down menu. Wait until the status shows Cancelled. 6. Exit VSR Console. 7. Stop the Storage Replicator services. 8. Run the Hotfix setup.exe. 9. Follow the InstallShield Wizard. 10. After the installation, reboot the server. 11. Verify that the VSR version number is Version 2.11 Build 2.15.50a after the upgrade. 12. After the hotfix has been installed in all the servers, restart the Prinergy-Database replication job. Permanent fix: |
