Error |
Media pool \xxx contains no writable media.... |
Symptoms |
An archive attempt fails with an error message indicating that there is no writable media, even though there is an "Available" tape either in the target application media pool or the free media pool of the Removable Storage Management (RSM). |
Cause |
This occurs if all "Available" tapes are in the offline library. This a limitation of the current implementation of the RSM API. Prinergy archiver could not find media to write to. This could be because there are no media in the pool with sufficient freespace, or because media with sufficient freespace are unavailable for some reason (eg: disabled, offline and not yet allocated or complete). |
Solution |
Insert a medium for this pool into the library or drive or add a new medium to the media pool or free pool. NOTE: For a single DLT drive case, Archiver only prompts for another tape if the tape is already "Allocated" (see the state in RSM), which means the tape is also known to Prinergy in the Oracle database. If the tape state in RSM is "Available" and the tape is "offline", Archiver will not prompt for the tape. Prinergy 2.1 will provide a better error message to indicate that you need to insert the available tape in the drive or tape library. Permanent fix: |
