Symptoms

While archiving, the archiver fails with the following error and then crashes the ParchRet.JTP:

Cause

Solution

Permanent Fix at 2.1, it will handle freespace properly.

Find out which tape is causing this problem and update the freespace value of the problem tape to 0.

To do so:

1. Go to a DOS prompt.

2. Enter “sqlplus prinergy/araxi� for a Prinergy 2.0 system or “plus80 araxi_1_0_12/araxi� for a Prinergy 1.1 system.

3. Type “select * from dbcs_archivemedium;� to look for the archivemedmname for the problem tape.

4. Enter “update dbcs_archivemedium set archivemedmfreegb = 0, archivemedmfreegbremainder=0 where archivemedmname = '<name of the problem tape>';�.

5. Enter “commit;�.

6. Enter “select * from dbcs_archivemedium;�. Run this again to verify that the freespace for the tape has been changed to 0.
