Symptoms |
If a multichannel DCS image (Single or Multi-file) that has been sampled with Color Central's Sampler is placed in Illustrator 8 or 9, the image shows up in Illustrator at very low resolution, about 25 dpi, and fails in the Normalize (OPI on) process. |
Cause |
Sampler files created wih the "Sample Type" preference set to "Classic" or 2.0 do not work. Multichannel files are Photoshop files that have one of the process channels (CMYK) missing. A use of this type of file is where the user wants to substitute, say Reflex blue for Cyan in an image or if the image contains 2 spots only. Multichannel files MUST be saved as DCS2 only. |

Solution |
A, Change the "Sample Type" preference in Sampler to "OPI 1.3" or B. In Photoshop, change the mode to CMYK and re-save the file. Make a new sample so that the preview looks good in Illustrator and refine again with OPI enabled in the Process Plan. Permanent fix: |
