Symptoms |
Low-res images (Sampler files) are placed in a file that is refined with OPI NOT enabled. The resulting PDF shows no images and no warning is given that the file contains low-res images. |
Cause |
The Samples placed do not have image data because they were not defined as “Printable. The only information present in the file is the image path, so the refiner cannot issue a warning about low-res images. . If Color Central Samples that have the “Printable option set to NO are placed, then there is no image data between the %%BeginIncludedImage/%%EndIncludedImage associated with the OPI comments. It is impossible for the refiner to reconstruct this image data from nothing. The best that the refiner can do, with OPI enabled, is to find the high-resolution image file (referenced via OPI) on disk and merge it into the PostScript stream during Normalize. |

Solution |
Make sure that OPI is enabled during the refine process. . To make sure that you are warned if you forget to enable OPI, use “Printable Samples from Color Central. Permanent fix: |
