Symptoms |
Oracle installer gets Access Violation (Y2K): Orainst.exe memory access violation 0xC0000005. The problem occurs during Oracle installation regardless of whether it's part of the Prinergy install. It only affects the Alpha platform because it uses the older version of Oracle 8.04. |

Cause |
Oracle installer is not Y2K compliant. | |
Solution |
Metalink Oracle doc# 92068.1 Ensure that you have completely removed Prinergy and Oracle. Refer to the uninstallation instructions in the Prinergy Installation Guide. Set the date back to 1999. Install Prinergy as normal and return the date back the current date. The Oracle installer is upgraded by the Oracle patch CD during the Prinergy installation. This makes the Oracle installer Y2K compliant. Permanent fix: Prinergy 2.0 |
