Symptoms

When trying to make a plate the following error occurs:

"The following error was reported by the output device: Plateworks RIP failed to create a temporary file"

"The job is being aborted"

A similiar error is reported when making a VPS output:

"Error duriing TIFF generation:TIFFOpenW :<pathname>.VPS cannot open."

"Unable to initialize the VPS output <pathname>.VPS"

Cause

This is caused by an illegal character in the imposition plan name. Do not use any of the following characters "/\*?<>|:

Solution

You cannot rename the imposition once it has been added; you must re-add the imposition using a legal name.

When adding the imposition, use the same pageset so you do not have to reassign the pages. Delete the old imposition.
