Symptoms |
Adding an imposition in Workshop takes a long time when another user is importing a job into Prinergy or exporting a job from Prinergy. |
Cause |
The system is configured with only one Import/Export JTP and the Workshop (by default) uses the ImportAll process plan to import impositions. In Prinergy 2.0, impositions are now imported using an Import/Export JTP. The new Import Job feature also uses an Import/Export JTP. The basic configurations of Connect include one Import/Export JTP, so if a site does a considerable amount of job importing, Workshop users may find that it takes a very long time to "Add Impositions". |

Solution |
To have impositions and jobs imported using separate Import/Export JTPs: 1. Ensure that a site has a license for at least two Import/Export JTPs. 2. Create a new pool of type Import/Export and name this pool ImportImposition. 3. Create a new Import/Export JTP and name this JTP ImportImpositionOnSvrname. 4. Add this new JTP to the ImportImposition pool (edit the pools properties and tick the appropriate JTP). 5. Edit the ImportAll PPlan to have it use the ImportImposition Pool rather than the default ImportExport Pool. 6. Create a new PPlan names ImportJobs and have this PPlan use the ImportExport pool. 7. If site has more than two Imp/Exp JTPs licensed, create the rest of the JTPs and add them to the Import/Export JTP Pool so that they can import more jobs in parallel. 8. Instruct the site that when they import jobs, they are to use the ImportJobs PPlan. Permanent fix: |
