Configurable Printlink Option

Product

  Prinergy 2.3, PrintLink

Platform

Operating system

Error

Symptoms

Some press interfaces require things in the PrintLink .PPF file which are not specified in the CIP3 specification, or they require these things to be specified in a very exact way.

Cause

Solution

The Configurable Printlink option is based on the custom file naming convention. In Printlink you can now use custom naming variables for the internal CIP tags. All of the Prinergy variables that work for external naming will now work for the CIP tags.

.

How to set it up:

1. At the end of this information, between "***", is some text. Create a file on your Prinergy server and name it "PrintLinkConfig.txt". Copy the text between the "***" characters to that .txt file.

2. Edit the Config file to enable the variables you require.

3. Copy the config file to a location you can browse to from a process plan

4. Choose the config file in the process plan under the Printlink option 'press interface config file'.

5. Browse to the location of the file.

*Currently, you have to choose the directory and then manually type in the name of the config file (fixed in 2.3.1.5).

6. You can continue to choose your existing press interface and the enabled tags in the config will override the interface defaults.

Example:

If your Prinergy job name is 'Docket12345'

And you edit the config file to enable this field:

AdmJobName=%job%

The resulting internal CIP tag will look like this:

/CIP3AdmJobname (Docket12345)

Here's the content of the file: (Don't include the "***" characters in the file)
