Error

Symptoms

1. Pages are very slow to render in Adobe Acrobat.

2. Proofs and plates are very slow to render in Prinergy.

3. Imposed flats may fail to RIP because of a limitcheck error.

Cause

Rorke Page Composer is a third-party application that takes various types of CT/LW pages as input and produces PostScript, PDF, or TIFF-IT as output. The PDF output has specific problems when processed through Prinergy.

.

Page Composer represents linework information as overlapping image masks. For pages with many linework colors, such as pages with blends, this techniqe is very inefficient. When the large, mostly empty tiles de-compress, they consume large amounts of RIP memory, causing poor performance, and, in some cases, PostScript errors.

Solution

Solution options:

1. Convert the CT/LW or TIFF/IT with another application, such as Prinergy's CEPS JTP.

2. If encountering limitcheck errors with PageComposer files, you could double-burn on the device (only impose a small number of the pages at a time).

3. If encountering limitcheck errors with PageComposer files, you could also try pre-rendering the page to a screened raster DCS file and bring this DCS back into Prinergy as the page to be imposed.
